Volcano could not stop the Greek Open

On April the 18th the Greek Open 2010 started with 517 fighters. It ist the first WKA World Series Tournament to take place in Greece. The figths began with the 8-12 division which had a lot of participants from young fighters in both Pointfighting and Lightcontact than it continued with the 13-17 division. Then came the men and women division and last the open category. At the same time the ringsports division took place in Fullcontact, Lowkick and K1-rules. All divisions gathered the countries top fighters. Attending the tournament was a team from Lebanon and Albania.
There was a German Team and English Team expected but due to the smoke from the volcano that errupted in iceland no flights left any countries in Europe. This was very bad luck since the English fighter David Hughes who was to fight Greek Champion Ermis Moiras for he world title in Pointfighting, was not able to come.
By the evening show Maria Pantazi (GRC) vs Iman Ghnalou Chairi (SPA). Maria won after a very close and hard fight against a strong Spanish fighter with great spirit. New European Champion Maria Pantazi (GRC)
